At DataXstream we have received a variety of questions from customers, prospective customers and others in the SAP ecosphere who are not quite sure what “RISE with SAP” means for their business or how their partnership with DataXstream is or is not impacted by RISE. In this post we will attempt to offer some clarity.
SAP RISE offering is “Business Transformation as a Service”
It allows existing SAP customers running on premise to migrate to the cloud in a secure an organized way.
SAP RISE incorporates the following SAP tools and platforms:
SAP BTP, SAP Signavio, SAP LeanIX, SAP Cloud ALM.
In moving to the cloud, SAP Rise methodologies include a focus on “clean core” which means to maintain simplicity and efficiency at the heart of business operations. There are 5 principles that SAP suggests you keep in mind; keep processes efficient and consistent, keep extensions clean, keep data lean, keep the landscape reliable, keep operations effective.
HOW does OMS+ fit into the RISE landscape?
OMS+ is built on SAP BTP. By developing the platform on BTP, DataXstream is able to maintain clean core principles and provide a configurable, agile solutions that serves as a platform to integrate additional add-ons to offer a robust sales offering. OMS+ is the end-to-end order management and point of sale and simultaneously serves as a platform connecting credit card processing, pricing solutions, shipping solutions and more. OMS+ is an SAP approved RISE solution for the wholesale and distribution industry sector.
Typically, SAP customers will spend a significant amount of time and resources customizing their SAP instance to accommodate the needs of their industry and sales processes. This heavy lift to create good sales processes for corporate and industry needs is what inspired the DataXstream team to develop OMS+. When businesses leverage OMS+ they are benefitting from over 250,000 hours of development and an aggregate of customer trials, customer requests, and improvements.
Benefit of installing OMS+ prior to migration
OMS+ was designed to be embedded into SAP ECC and sit on top of the SAP instance, this is significant in that OMS+ does not require an integration project. Companies that are planning their migration from ECC to S/4 are encouraged to consider the following:
- install OMS+ on ECC
- decouple sales from the upgrade
- upgrade to SAP S/4HANA
- upgrade OMS+ to run on S/4HANA
Companies who have followed this path have reduced the cost and resources allocated to SAP SD for their migration from an average of over 50% of their total migration to 10% of the budget, time and resources for their migration.
Customer Service and Sales Representatives leave on a Friday running OMS+ in ECC and return on Monday to OMS+ on S/4HANA with little to no change in their operations. Stabilizing sales reduces the overall risk associated with upgrades.
The business value achieved by OMS+ is consistent across all platforms. The difference is simply when it is deployed. For customers on ECC, installing OMS+ on their current system will allow them to begin to benefit from OMS+ now while creating a stepping stone for future upgrades. For SAP customers on SAP S/4HANA, installing OMS+ will streamline sales, improve the end-to-end order processing and point-of-sale and offer a platform that sells across channels and integrates with other SAP tools. For customers contemplating the move to SAP, including OMS+ as part of the original installation will provide an efficient, stream lined and future ready sales, order management and quote-to-cash solution.
