Have you ever seen the movie “In Time”? Pretty cool concept where time – literally time left alive – is the only currency. A cup of coffee costs 3 minutes of your life. Paychecks are distributed in the form of more time. Goods and services are paid for with time. I think you probably grasp the concept. While the movie is obviously a work of fiction, it brings home a powerful point: Time is valuable. This is just as true in the real world as it is in the dystopian world of the movie.
With this in mind, we should all be looking for ways to improve our everyday processes in oder to make them run more quickly and get maximum efficiency out of our routines. Let me present you with an example: SAP order processing. What you see below is a GIF of the ever familiar VA01 sales order creation process using SAP GUI. As you watch the counter, you will see that just the order creation itself takes about 1:00. Keep in mind that this is just the creation of the sales order itself. If you are familiar with the process, you know we still have many steps left; payment needs to be taken, a delivery needs to be made and all the associated billing process need to happen. That hurt your eyeballs didn’t it? Don’t worry we won’t do that again. Just try not to scroll back up. Now let me take a second to introduce our star for the evening – DataXstream’s OMS+. So, what you just saw was the entire SAP order process run from end to end. We started at VA01 and ran through the collection of payment, delivery and all the associated billing process in about 40 seconds. Some things to keep in mind – I don’t have any of the customer numbers or material numbers memorized. That’s why you see me do the search in each clip. I was also trying to do both process as quickly s I could, so I skipped over some really cool stuff that the OMS+ does. No, no, it’s ok, we’ll get to all that cool stuff later. This is just the first in a series of posts about all the amazing things the OMS+ does. I will continue to post comparison pieces like this, showing you just how powerful our OMS+ for SAP POS is.
